Why Am I In This Handbasket?

I am very sorry to hear this. When did it happen? I just found out from civil-war-Ed, who said he heard it from you. I'd lost touch with Mary completely when I left Gville, and I had to declare email bankruptcy on the VAX lists during the timeframe of this post, so I missed any announcement that may have been there.

It was the last part of July, about a week before I posted the memorium. I'm not familier with VAX or your handle, are you someone I know in RL?

I'm sorry to be bringing this up nearly a year later, and I'm not sure if your Mary was the same one I knew, but...

I worked with a Mary Cajigal in Largo, Florida at a comic shop in the 1980s. She was going to become a chemist, went off to college and that's the last I saw of her.

Always wondered what happened to her. I see the comic book / anime / sci-fi references and really wonder if this isn't her.

I hope not, and am sorry for your loss either way.

Yes, it is the same Mary. I'm sorry you had to find out about it this way.

What happened to her? It's been about 15 years or so since I had heard anything about her. She had kept in touch with our friend Jim and his wife Nadine for awhile and another guy, Dave, and then the last time I saw any of them, they said they hadn't heard from her in a long time. I had hopes that she had gotten married, had a good career and family. She had such career plans and definitive life goals.

How did she die? I think it's absolutely tragic. Mary was an awesome girl, with a great sense of humor, who always brightened all our lives with her presence.

I missed her and here I thought she was alive and just out there somewhere...

What a loss to the world.
